My turn!

It seems like WAY longer than two years ago that Amy and I met.

I had worked with the theater company we did Grease with before so I knew a lot of the people at callbacks, and it's true, I was schmoozy (we call her "Audition Carolyn"). It was good to see old friends. We started reading scenes as Rizzo (we were both up for it) and...forget it. SassyPants McGee got up, with sunglasses on, and became Stockard Channing. I was like "Welp. That's Rizzo." I got the call the next day that they wanted me for Marty, to which I responded "I totally forgot she existed! Hurray! I'm in!"

I wanted to be Amy's friend, even though at callbacks we both said "UGH. Who is THAT girl?" So I offered her a ride after our first rehearsal, we eventually talked books and...done. Friends. One of the best friends I've ever had, at that.

The day we spent fourteen hours straight together was the day we both realized we had a BFF situation on our hands. We didn't get on each others' nerves ONCE. Bottom line, Amy is the sassiest, most down-to-earth, tell-it-like-it-is, hilarious and fun chick I know, and I love her.

That's enough of that.

I went to school for theater. I'd been performing for years and years and years. I thought it's what I wanted to persue. But...when Amy suggested wedding planning, something clicked in my head. It made total sense. I still wanted to try professional theater, and in 2009 started having some good fortune in that regard - going in the right direction. We'd been talking about AELO for months and months trying to figure out our next steps. And though I will always have performing in my blood, I started to think about having a more realistic career.

After some life stuff (shows, her wedding, job losses, gains, reality, emotions) we got for realsies about the business. And then BOOM. Brides!! The business took off in a completely unexpected and wonderful way. And it just feels right. Also, it turns out, Amy and I both have a certain affinity for all of this. It's a combination of our personalities and experience and the fact that we completely and absolutely LOVE IT.

So here's to our eight couples for taking a chance on a couple of chicks with a dream. You guys are amazing.

It is exhilarating to say that we weren't content with where we were, so we decided to do something about it. This little business is my heart and soul, and like Amy said...I'm a proud mama.

stay fab, you wonderful, supportive, loving, incredible friends of AELO,

carolyn
